How a Mobile Clinic Can Help with Opioid Addiction
Aegis Treatment Centers has launched California’s first Mobile Medication Vehicle (MMV) in Pasadena, designed to provide convenient treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) directly to the community. This fully equipped mobile clinic will operate five days a week, making two daily stops to ensure that individuals can access life-saving medications and support without transportation barriers. The MMV offers medications such as methadone and buprenorphine (Suboxone®), along with telehealth counseling and referrals to additional services.
This initiative is significant for people in Pasadena and Los Angeles County, especially those who struggle with transportation or have limited access to treatment options. By bringing care directly to communities, the MMV aims to reduce stigma and provide a judgment-free environment for individuals seeking help. The goal is to stabilize symptoms and support recovery, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes and stronger family support systems.
The MMV is part of a broader effort by Aegis Treatment Centers to enhance access to addiction treatment. While this launch marks an important step forward, it is still early in the rollout, with additional MMVs planned for other locations in California. The program is designed to meet people where they are, providing consistent access to care that can change lives.
For those interested in utilizing these services, the MMV will accept Medi-Cal, Medicare, commercial insurance, and self-pay options, making it accessible to a wide range of individuals in need of support.
