The Penn Highlands Connect Center plays a crucial role in this initiative, managing a fleet of 24 vehicles dedicated to patient transportation. This service helps patients who are discharged from hospitals but lack a ride home, as well as those needing to travel for ongoing treatments like chemotherapy or behavioral health services. By facilitating these rides, the Connect Center not only helps individuals but also frees up hospital beds for others in need. The service is especially vital for cancer patients and those requiring consistent therapy, as uninterrupted care can significantly improve health outcomes.

While the transportation services are a step in the right direction, the healthcare system acknowledges the need for more resources to expand these efforts.
