Researchers have initiated a first human study of a new immunotherapy that uses an engineered form of the Listeria bacterium to target pancreatic cancer, one of the most challenging cancers to treat. Matter Bio has submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for Lm-LLO-TT, which aims to enhance the immune system’s memory response against this aggressive disease. The upcoming Phase 1/2a study will assess the safety and effectiveness of this treatment in patients with advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), a cancer notorious for its poor survival rates.
